Directional Drilling Swivels
Brewis Engineering’s Directional Drilling Swivels are designed and manufactured in Frome, proven over decades of trenchless installations, and trusted by drilling professionals worldwide for their reliability, strength, and smooth rotational performance across a wide range of HDD applications.
Big Rig – Heavy Duty Pullback Swivels (44 to 550 US Ton)
The BIG RIG range represents the next evolution of Brewis Engineering’s renowned heavy-duty swivel design — delivering the exceptional load capacity, durability, and rotational freedom required for the most demanding HDD pullback operations.
Every swivel in the range incorporates a declared-capacity SKF Explorer or FAG X-Life spherical roller thrust bearing, ensuring the bearing itself is fully rated to withstand the stated dynamic load. Where many swivel manufacturers only quote the strength of the surrounding steelwork, Brewis prioritises the real-world component that matters most: the bearing. When thrust load increases and rotation must remain smooth, a correctly rated bearing is the difference between a successful pullback and costly downtime.
Engineered from high tensile steel with a single-piece shaft and our patented sealing system that enables power greasing during operation, BIG RIG swivels are built to perform in harsh ground conditions and extended bore scenarios. API box to clevis connections come as standard, with clevis-to-clevis options available to order.
Key Features
- Rated load capacities from 44 to 550 US tons
- Declared bearing capacity — real performance you can rely on
- Patented sealing system for power greasing in the field
- Convenient side grease point for quick access
- High tensile steel construction for exceptional strength
- Single-piece shaft for maximum structural integrity
- Standard configurations: 44, 58, 83, 110, 154, 175, 210, 275, 320, 382, 455, 550 US ton
- API box to clevis as standard; clevis/clevis available on request
Mini Rig Pullback Swivels — 10, 15, 20 & 30 US Ton
The Mini Rig swivel range delivers Brewis Engineering quality in a compact, cost-efficient package — ideal for smaller horizontal directional drilling rigs where reliability still can’t be compromised. Designed and manufactured with the same engineering principles behind our heavy-duty Big Rig swivels, these units provide smooth rotation under load and long-term durability in harsh drilling conditions. A single-piece steel shaft ensures maximum structural integrity, while our patented sealing system enables power greasing to keep the swivel protected and moving freely throughout the pull.
Key Features
- Load capacities: 10, 15, 20 & 30 US Ton
- Patented sealing system — allows power greasing during use
- One-piece shaft machined from solid steel for superior strength
- Durable clevis-to-clevis configuration as standard
- Engineered for dependable performance in demanding trenchless environments
BEL Cable Swivels
